We work collaboratively to navigate the inevitable challenges of life. Treatment is tailored to your needs. We combine empirically based approaches while "keeping it real". Humor, readings, social media, podcasts, and other resources and techniques may be included. If you are interested, we could sprinkle in mindfulness, yoga philosophy, and meditation practices. All of this is within an anti-diet, body neutrality, trauma-informed framework.
My caseload includes teenagers and adults of all genders. Common concerns people bring to therapy include body image, dieting, depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, High Sensitivity, stress, and/or other challenges. I am also a Certified Yoga Teacher with specialized training in yoga for treating eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, depression, trauma, and anxiety.
I believe that embodiment– feeling safe and comfortable in your own body – is key to self-understanding, authenticity, and feeling good about yourself. It's your birthright!
Wellness to me means being in tune with both mind and body. After all, mind and body are connected! For this reason - and more - all treatment I provide is through a Health At Every Size, Intuitive Eating, anti-diet, trauma Informed framework.
Attunement with your own body and mind can be challenging for lots of reasons. It's the secret sauce, though, and I am passionate about helping people discover this for themselves.
Areas of specialty include eating, weight, and body image issues. Teaching Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) how to thrive is another specialty. I also work with people who have been through trauma, and/or who are having general difficulties managing stress, relationships, and taking good care of themselves.
Working with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) is close to my heart. HSPs make up 15-20 percent of the population. The High Sensitivity (HS) trait comes with many challenges and cool opportunities. I offer methods for HSPs to discover the richness and 'superpowers' of the trait and teach practical skills for reappraising challenges.
"Positive psychology", the science of happiness, is interwoven in my approach. It's all about strengthening qualities like resilience, optimism, and joy. The focus is on strengths and virtues. Positive psychology has awesome real world applications.
My patients tell me they enjoy and appreciate my office setting, style, and psychotherapy approach.
